• Future K–9 school: Hotchkiss has an 11-acre site planned for a K–9 school. It isn't operating yet, so current school designations depend on the school board and address. The developer says students currently have access to schools through CBE, Calgary Catholic and FrancoSud, with school-bus transportation depending on designation.
• 51 acres of parks and pathways: This is probably the strongest recreation feature to highlight. The master plan includes 51 acres of park space and pathways.
• 30-acre natural wetland: Hotchkiss has a substantial 30-acre wetland, with walking pathways and a central boardwalk designed for wildlife/nature viewing and mountain views.
• Playgrounds and gathering spaces: The community plan includes playgrounds, picnic/gathering areas and interconnected pathways rather than just conventional neighbourhood parks.
• Seton is the major nearby recreation hub: Hotchkiss doesn't currently have its own full-scale recreation centre, so one of its advantages is access to the established Seton area, including the YMCA, South Health Campus, library, shopping and other services.
• Future neighbourhood commercial: About four acres of commercial amenities are planned within Hotchkiss itself.
